RIMINI, ITALY ~ A NICE SURPRISE

Image
Ten days in Rimini was risky as we knew nothing about it but a really good choice! We like old towns, usually known as a Vecchio, and this one was great. Our Airbnb was in the middle of the old town right on a Piazza with many side roads. Lots of shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafés and churches everywhere! Oh the bells!! Café downstairs, coffee and croissants for breakfast, filled with…you name it. We only indulged a few times. We walked miles everyday. We crossed bridges and went in and out of the old town’s walls and arches and eventually found the grocery markets. One day we decided to walk to the Rimini beaches. GPS said 25 minutes but it easily took us over an hour.  Later took a taxi home which only took maybe 4 minutes. Tip… walking GPS in old towns is not to be trusted. From our balcony Our door next to white awning  Oh the Italian women.   our street Ahhh relief after the miles of walking

A little about Venice. It’s been twenty years since Michael and I were in Venice on our honeymoon. It must have been cleaner or love was blind. This time it was so crowded and very dirty. Disappointing.  Like I said, a little bit about Venice. Here are some pictures of the nicer side of Venice I was able to catch. Enjoy!

The first few days

CIAO Last we were in Italy was 2019 when we had to cut our 3 month trip in half due to a very bad fall I took. I wound up in emergency and was back in America 3 days later. So here we are again in Italy, finishing up the parts of that trip whch we missed. (Amalfi here we come!) Also, we are adding some east and west coastal towns and ancestural towns of my grandparents. This time we are aiming at two months because it gets harder and harder to travel the way we do. One suitcase and one back pack per person and planes and trains and trains and trains and walking. Lots of walking! BTW when an Italian tells you it's 5 minutes down the road...don't believe them! A lite breakfast because we know what else is out there.
